Adobe Dreamweaver is probably the most powerful, easy to use software for creating and managing websites. It simply gives you the opportunity to create your own designs, to build web pages easy and effectively the way you want them. With Dreamweaver you can completely customize the look of your websites, you can create tables, forms, drop-down menus, change fonts and colours in a click of a button; you can create CSS styles without advanced knowledge on coding; you can build your own templates and reuse them for hundreds of pages. Dreamweaver makes it easier to create clean coding structure, organize your web pages in the right way and make them look amazing in different browsers.
How to organize your workflow?
- Using Dreamweaver doesn’t require advanced knowledge, but it requires good organization and up-front planning of your site. Before you start building your website, make sure that you know what kind of site you’re creating. Take a piece of paper and structure it. Make a separate folder on your computer, in which to save your files. Determine what kind of information to include, the main types of pages you need and how the visitors of your site are going to use it.
- Organize the file structure of your new site. The best way is to create a simple sitemap before you’ve even started building your pages. Create separate folders for your images, style sheets and anything else you plan to include in your site (JavaScript, Flash...). It’s easy to do this using the file panel in Dreamweaver.
- Decide how to structure your pages, how to build the main layout scheme using CSS or tables (I do not recommend you to use tables, as they make the file size of your pages larger).
- It’s time to create a website in Dreamweaver - there are hundreds of elements which you can include using Dreamweaver – text, images, rollover images, image maps, you can change colours, add movie clips, menus, flash elements, etc.
- Test your pages’ browser compatibility, accessibility... Check is all images have their “alt” tags, all links lead to the right page, fix your code.
- More advanced users might want to create simple and more complicated applications, which connect to a database, store information or any other kind of action. Dreamweaver makes all these advanced features easier to accomplish.
- Finally, it’s time to publish your new website... Easy, right?
